Description
A bright, tangy-sweet chutney with a spicy kick! This classic pineapple jalapeño chutney combines tropical fruit with bold aromatics, warm spices, and a touch of heat — perfect as a condiment for grilled meats, tacos, or cheese boards.
Ingredients
2 cups fresh pineapple, diced (1/4-inch pieces)
2 jalapeños, seeded and finely minced
1 red onion, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 inch fresh ginger, grated
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Instructions
1. Dice pineapple into uniform 1/4-inch cubes for even cooking.
2. Finely mince the jalapeños and chop red onion for texture consistency.
3. Grate fresh ginger using a microplane to maximize flavor.
4. In a saucepan over medium heat, toast mustard seeds until they begin to pop.
5. Add onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until aromatic.
6. Stir in pineapple, jalapeños, vinegar, brown sugar, turmeric, and salt.
7. Simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
8. Remove from heat and let cool. Store in a sterilized jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
Use golden ripe pineapple for best natural sweetness.
Adjust heat by leaving some jalapeño seeds if preferred.
Delicious paired with grilled chicken, pork, or brie cheese.
