Description
This Lemon Butter Dijon Chicken with creamy orzo is a weeknight dinner dream — juicy chicken in a silky lemon Dijon sauce with tender orzo that soaks up every bit of flavor. Comforting, elegant, and done in one pan!
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter, divided
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tsp garlic powder
1 cup orzo pasta
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup milk or half-and-half
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
Juice and zest of 1 lemon
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
2. Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, melt remaining butter and sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
4. Add orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
5. Stir in chicken broth, milk, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice and zest. Bring to a gentle simmer.
6. Reduce heat and cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 8–10 minutes until the orzo is tender and creamy.
7. Stir in Parmesan cheese until smooth, then return chicken to the pan.
8. Simmer for 2 minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.
Notes
For a richer flavor, add a splash of white wine with the broth.
Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for extra juiciness.
Double the sauce if you love it extra creamy — it’s perfect for soaking up with bread!
