Ham and Cheese Mini Sandwiches (Oven-Baked Sliders)

These ham and cheese mini sandwiches are soft, cheesy, and perfect for parties, game days, snacks, or quick dinners. Golden baked rolls are stuffed with savory ham and melty cheese, then topped with a flavorful seasoned butter sauce for irresistible flavor.

Ingredients

Sandwiches

  • 12 soft dinner rolls or slider rolls, whole

  • 8–12 ounces thinly sliced deli ham

  • 8–12 slices Swiss cheese or cheddar cheese

Seasoned Butter Sauce

  • ½ cup melted butter

  • 1½ tablespoons Dijon or yellow mustard

  • 1½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1½ teaspoons dried minced onion or finely chopped onion

  • 1–2 teaspoons poppy seeds (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.

  2. Prepare Rolls
Slice the dinner rolls in half horizontally, keeping the tops attached if possible so the sliders stay together when baking.

  3. Layer Ham and Cheese
Place the bottom halves of the rolls in the prepared baking dish in a single layer. Layer the ham evenly across the rolls, then top with cheese slices.

  4. Add the Top Buns
Close each sandwich with the top halves of the rolls.

  5. Make the Butter Sauce
In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, minced onion, poppy seeds (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper.

  6. Pour Over Sandwiches
Drizzle the seasoned butter sauce evenly over the tops of the sandwiches, making sure it soaks into all the crevices.

  7. Bake
Cover the dish with foil and bake for about 10–12 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 5–8 minutes until the tops are lightly golden and the cheese is melted.

  8. Serve Warm
Let the mini sandwiches cool slightly, then serve warm straight from the pan.

Tips

  • Bread choice: Soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls work best for tender, pull-apart sliders.

  • Cheese: Swiss cheese melts beautifully and pairs perfectly with ham, but cheddar or provolone work well too.

  • Make-ahead: You can prep the sandwiches and cover with foil in the fridge for a couple of hours before baking.

  • Extra flavor: Add a thin smear of mustard or mayo inside each roll before layering the ham for extra moisture and taste.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these mini ham and cheese sandwiches as:

  • Appetizers for parties

  • Game-day snacks

  • Easy weeknight dinner with a side salad

  • Lunchbox sliders for kids

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to keep the bread soft and the cheese melty.
