Nestlé Toll House Death by Chocolate Cake

Nestlé Toll House Death by Chocolate Cake

Nestlé Toll House Death by Chocolate Cake is an ultra-rich, indulgent dessert made for true chocolate lovers. This decadent cake layers moist chocolate cake with creamy chocolate frosting, chocolate chips, and optional ganache for an over-the-top finish. It is perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or whenever a deep chocolate craving hits.

Ingredients for the cake: 1 box chocolate cake mix, ingredients listed on the box (usually eggs, oil, and water), and 1 cup Nestlé Toll House semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Ingredients for the chocolate frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter softened, 3½ cups powdered sugar, ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, ¼ cup heavy cream or milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

Optional toppings: melted chocolate or chocolate ganache, additional chocolate chips, or chocolate shavings.

To prepare the cake, preheat the oven according to the cake mix instructions, usually 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. Prepare the cake batter following the package directions, then gently fold in the chocolate chips. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.

Bake according to package instructions, typically 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean. Remove from the oven and allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

To make the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, salt, and heavy cream. Beat until smooth, fluffy, and spreadable, adjusting the cream as needed for consistency.

To assemble the cake, place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a generous layer of chocolate frosting on top. Place the second cake layer over the frosting and frost the top and sides of the cake evenly.

If desired, drizzle melted chocolate or ganache over the cake and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips or shavings. Allow the cake to set slightly before slicing. Serve at room temperature for the best texture and flavor.
